UTV Motion Pictures & Walkwater Media Limited presents Prakash Jha's highly anticipated film RAAJNEETI. Produced & Directed by Prakash Jha, the film is edited by Santosh Mandal.

RAAJNEETI boasts of ensemble cast Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee, Sarah Thompson with Naseeruddin Shah & Nana Patekar. Also featuring Darshan Jariwala, Shruti Seth, Nikhila Tirkha, Chetan Pandit, Vinay Apte, Kiran Karmarkar, Dayashankar Pandey, Khan Jahangir Khan and Ravi Khemu.

The music of the film is composed by Wayne Sharpe, Pritam, Shantanu Moitra and Aadesh Srivastava and lyrics penned by Gulzar, Sameer, Swanand Kirkire and Irshad Kaamil.

RAAJNEETI is a story about Indian politics. About Indian democracy. About Indian elections. Above all, it is a story of a few people who control the destiny of the billions of people in India. It is the story of their unstoppable ambition, and their bitter and violent battle to achieve it. RAAJNEETI is the story of people who understand power - and know how to wield it at will.

Synopsis:

The movie is about Bhaskar Sanyal (Nasreruddin Shah) the fire-brand leftist leader, as feared for his single-handed ability to challenge the most powerful leaders as he was respected for his political integrity. Until one private mistake that leads him into self-imposed exile and spawned a secret consequence that shook the destiny of the political future of the state.

RAAJNEETI is also about Sooraj (Ajay Devgn) who rose from the backward classes - with anger in his heart and leadership on his mind. And yet, his destiny could never overcome the tragedy of his birth, trapping him in a terrible dilemma where his loyalty to his friend threatens to destroy his own family. Of Brij Gopal (Nana Patekar), who shunned every political ambition even as he continued to mentor and guide the younger generation of leaders while the battle got bloodier by the day?

It is the story of Prithvi Pratap (Arjun Rampal), heir to a powerful political legacy and impatient to seize the top position. A man with a heart of gold but who is all brawn. A man whose uncontrollable passions bring his family to the brink of political extinction.

And of Veerendra Pratap (Manoj Bajpai), whose lunge at the throne was thwarted even as he was within striking distance of it. A man who believes he was born to rule, and who will now stop at absolutely nothing to claw his way back to the top.

Of Indu Sakseria (Katrina Kaif), the princess - beautiful, passionate, arrogant. She had only one all-consuming love. Little did she know that her personal happiness was dependent on the changing electoral fortunes of her love, and that even a slight shift in the faultiness of political negotiation would cause a devastating earthquake in her personal life? And yet, this spirited never-say-die diva rose from the ashes of her tragedy to challenge every contender, over-turning the political future of the state.

Of Sarah Jean Collins (Sarah Thompson), who came from one of the bloodiest and most violent places of earth? Who escaped from there, bruised, hurt, and fell in love with a soul-mate who shared a similar legacy. And her abhorrence for it. And yet, when he was sucked into his destiny, this innocent bewildered girl's private world was thrown asunder.

And, it is the story of Samar Pratap (Ranbir Kapoor), the ultimate outsider. The apolitical conscientious objector, who got reluctantly sucked into the battle-ravaged arena of family rivalry. Only to turn into a master of the craft of political warfare. It is the story of the woman that he loved, and the one that loved and lost him. It is the story of his determined and fierce fight to protect his family. Of the bloodiest of final battles in a war alien to his character. It is the story of a man's descent into the moral hell that is Indian politics.

It is the story of a fiercely fought election campaign, where money-power and corruption are the accepted norms, and where treachery and manipulation are routinely used weapons. As the personal drama of these conflict-ridden characters unfolds against this gritty backdrop, love and friendship become mere baits, and relationships get sacrificed at the altar of political alignments. The darkness that rises from their soul threatens to envelope all that they hold precious. Until eventually, in the crescendo of increasing violence, the line between good and evil blurs, making it impossible to distinguish heroes from villains.

RAAJNEETI is the story of Indian democracy. And its ugly underside. It is about politics. And beyond.

Katrina will be with us in spirit if not in person

Katrina will be with us in spirit if not in person

Katrina will be with us in spirit if not in personKatrina Kaif's plans to fly down to Mumbai for a day to celebrate the Raajneeti success on June 23 from Spain where she is shooting for Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara have been dropped.

Apparently inclement weather has made it impossible for her to be let off for even a day. Setting aside her habitual work-comes-first-party-later attitude she even requested the film's producers and director to accommodate her absence for less than day.

Says a source close to Katrina, “Since Prakash Jha was very very keen to have her down to Mumbai for the bash, and had even made all the arrangements for her flight, Katrina was not willing to give up the idea of attending the function.

She offered to be back in less than 24 hours. Katrina was willing to fly to Mumbai, attend the Raajneeti bash on Wednesday and fly out quickly the same night to re-join the Dobara team the next morning. But she is not allowed.”

The Raajneeti team has a lot to celebrate about. But Prakash Jha wanted no celebration until his lucky mascot Katrina Kaif was available.

Unfortunatley Zoya Akhtar's crew has been facing rough weather ever since they arrived in Spain. Apparently 6 days of shooting had to be cancelled because of heavy rains. And now they need to make up for lost time quickly since their work permits and visas would expire.

Prakash Jha admits that Katrina would be unable to make it to the Raajneeti celebration party on June 23. “They've lost a lot of time because of the rain in Spain. I couldn't dream of having a Raajneeti bash without Katrina. And I had postponed it until her availability. But now it's impossible for Katrina to fly down.”

Prakash will now record a video message with Katrina and play it at the party. “So she will be with us in spirit if not in person, ” he smirks.

Katrina on the other hand tried to sound diplomatic and non-disappointed. “It is a big day. And the success of Raajneeti is very precious to me. But I can't leave the crew in Spain.”

She admits there're lots of unscheduled breaks. Katrina has got one of her sister Melissa to join her in Spain to give her company at break time.

Says Katrina, “London is just two hours, so Melissa could join me. Mumbai is in another hemisphere. Flying down is impossible. Please tell Prakashji, Mera party baqi raha.”

I don't like to blow kisses at my fans to show that I am a diva

I don't like to blow kisses at my fans to show that I am a diva: Kangana Ranaut

I don`t like to blow kisses at my fans to show that I am a diva: Kangana Ranaut Kangana Ranaut is set for a brush with the underworld on screen once again after "Gangster". She reveals that her character in "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai" is a cross between don Haji Mastan's wife Sona and yesteryears beauty Madhubala.

"In real life Haji was a big fan of Madhubala-ji and he fell in love with Sona who looked like her. So my character is a cross between the two, " Kangana told in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.

"The character I am playing has some similarities with Madhubala-ji...like the way she was a superstar and had problems in life..., " she added.

Talking about her character Rehana in the film, Kangana said: "Rehana is a very big star...she is the woman who evokes desire in everyone and then she falls in love with this gangster and discovers a new world. My character transforms from a star to a woman."

Her character might be similar to that of Madhubala but Kangana was inspired by other yesteryears heroines too for the role.

"I observed 70's actresses like Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi... they were the rebels who wore bikinis and were style icons. My character is somehow like them, " said Kangana.

Set primarily in the 1970s Mumbai, the film by Milan Luthria will trace the changing face of the underworld through the eyes of a police officer. The story follows the rise of Sultan (Ajay Devgn), and his eventual fall when his protege Shoaib (Emraan Hashmi) challenges his supremacy and usurps power to rule the underworld in the city.

The film that releases July 30 also features Prachi Desai.

On her personal life, Kangana is candid and says she doesn't care what people think of her. And being a Bollywood diva is not really her cup of tea.

"I really don't care what people think of me and how they perceive me. That is okay with me because I don't make an extra effort to be friendly to people. I do things I like doing, " Kangana told.

"I'm a very moody person. There are times when I want to talk about my life whereas there are days I just want to be left alone, " she said.

Kangana is unlike other Bollywood stars who are interacting with fans on micro-blogging site Twitter but maintains she shares a "personal relationship" with her well-wishers.

"I don't put myself on Twitter to see how many people are crazy about me. I don't like to blow kisses at my fans to show that I am a diva. This whole idea of diva doesn't turn me on, " said Kangana.

"I share a very personal relationship with my fans and my close ones. Even when I meet people who appreciate my work, I talk to them as I talk to everyone else. That is the way I have always been, " she added.

Don't think I am hot or sexy

Don't think I am hot or sexy: Katrina Kaif

Don`t think I am hot or sexy: Katrina KaifPlaying her Raajneeti, Katrina Kaif has shown that she is not just all about oomph, but substance as well. The actor in conversation with TWF correspondent Sreya Basu.

Raajneeti saw Katrina Kaif in her first de-glam avatar…
Yes. But know what…I dislike makeup. So when Prakash Jha (filmmaker) said I have to play a politician without pancakes, I was more than happy.

But the words that are mostly associated with you are hot and sexy…
You know, I personally feel that I am not hot or sexy. You have to have an appeal that will make you special. My appeal lies in what the audiences think about me.

All you have to do is try not to disappoint them. Like, Vidya Balan is known for her very ethnic roles…people love her in that. And, I think I am known for my fun roles. That's how we feel comfortable; not by the tags on our looks.

When you started, were you conscious of the fact that people will give you opportunity in Bollywood because the way you look?
I started modeling when I was 14 and entered the glamour industry at a very young age. I am aware of my looks but I guess only looks is not enough in my profession.

Many Bollywood actresses are trying their hands in action. When are we going to see you as an action heroine?
I love doing different kind of things. I love doing things that I am scared of. But I don't like jumping out of planes; I like my feet to be on the ground instead of in the air.

(Pauses) On second thoughts, I would love to do an action film like Charlies Angles. And…

And?
I want to do a period film.

You are considered lucky for Box Office. How's that most of your films turn out to be BO hits?
Films are something you have to pick by your instinct. I feel there is something Greater Force present in my life, which has saved me from doing a lot of bad films. I have noticed that the films which I have not done, or wanted to do but didn't work out for some reasons or another, have not done well.

Other than Ranbir Kapoor, all your on-screen heroes are quite elder to you…
Yeah! At times I rag them on this issue. But they will say: 'Look at us and other men in our age group'.

Really, you have to give them credit; it's not easy to maintain yourself like that, trust me. They all look so fantastic for their age-Aamir (Khan), Shah Rukh (Khan); my mother finds Akshay Kumar really good-looking. (Smiles)

You are seven sisters… it must have been crazy growing up together?
It's a wonderful experience to live and grow with my six sisters. My biggest regret is that I can't live with all of them under the same roof now.

What are the things you can't do without?
Japanese food, sleeping, beaches…and of course, movies...they are my passion.

What is the mantra you have adopted after almost seven years in Bollywood?
Live and let live (laughs). I want to be happy and be loved…that's all.

Media speculations involving you and Salman Khan are still on. Salman has been telling the media that he is not alone and also hinting at his relationship with you. What will you say about this?
He is a very senior actor and has his own ways in dealing with the media. But I don't like making my personal life public.
